Our product uses state of the art technology to increase the spatial awareness of a rider. The sensors work by sending out rays of non visible light which bounce off of moving objects. The bounced light then makes its way back to the sensor. The time that it takes for the rays to return to the sensor is recorded and then a specific voltage output is inputted into the arduino board. This voltage is then converted into a distance number using the graph to the right. There will be a visual cue (red light) that shines in your peripheral vision to warn you of an oncoming vehicle that has entered the designated blind spot area. This will not blind the rider or impair his vision. There is also plans to add an audio cue with the visual signal to increase the awareness of the rider.
